district serves eggs in every conceivable way. All of the
eggs are laid by free-range chickens in the Alsace region.
This restaurant is closed on Sundays.
L'Art Café

The L'Art Café is a trendy restaurant
serving the modern art museum. Cuisine is seasonal and open
throughout the day from 1100-2300 Tues- Sun. During the summer
guests can eat on the terrace offering views of the river,
Cathedral and Old Town.
Au Crocodile

The Au Crocodile has 3 Michelin stars
and is ones of Strasbourg's top restaurants. The restaurant
offers house specialities including duck liver in baeckeoffe,
an impressive wine list, and excellent service. The Au Crocodile
is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

"Le Woodies" is a traditional Alsatian eaterie and
an excellent place to try one of the local specialities, Tarte
Flambée, a light crispy pizza-like base, covered in
fromage blanc, onions and various vegetable or meats (they
come in sweet versions too).

A friendly restaurant for those who like to eat late into
the night. Le Noctabule has an Art Deco bar and live piano
music from 7pm and serves French cuisine until 6am Monday-Thursday
and 7am on Fridays and Saturdays. Duck foie gras is the house
speciality.
Académie de la bière

The Académie de la bière has a selection of
over 70 varieties of beer, some of which cannot be found anywhere
else.
Le Bateau Ivre
Quai des Alpes
Le Bateau Ivre is a beautiful spacious boat moored in the
quay. This is a very popular and trendy night club open until
4am on the weekends.

Shopping
Strasbourg is full of antiques, craft shops and markets.
The Place des Halles is the main commercial centre with around
130 shops, restaurants and bars.
Designer shops are along the rue des Orfèvres and the
rue de la Mésange.
Visitors looking for a bargain can buy second hand clothes
from the Kilo Shop on the rue de la Lanterne where items are
priced according to their weight.
Flea Market. Every Wednesday and Saturday: rue du Vieil Hopital,
rue des Bouchers and place de la Grande Boucherie from 9am
to 6pm.
Book Market. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday: rue and
place Gutenburg, rue des Hallebardes from 9am to 6pm.
Producers' Market. Every Saturday: Place du Vieux-Marche-aux-Poissons
from 7am to 1pm.
The seasonal Christkindelsmärik takes place from late
November to 24 December at place Broglie and rue de la Comédie,
and until 31 December at place de la Cathédrale. The
traditional Christmas market dates back to the 16th century
selling everything from vin chaud (hot wine) to toys and gourmet
delicacies.

Useful Information.
The Strasbourg Pass entitles the holder to several free visits
(boat tour, museum visit, ascent to the Cathedral platform,
free use of a bicycle one day, Astronomical clock of the Cathedral)
as well as a 50% reduction for other visits. It is valid for
3 days and costs €9.90. Available from the Tourist office
of Strasbourg.
Audio guides are available from the Tourist Office, which
allow you to discover the area between the Cathedral and the
Petite France on foot in your own time, accompanied by a walk-man
and a map of the circuit. The guide costs €6.00 or half
price for teenagers (12-18) and students. It takes around
an hour and a half to do the tour, and it is available from
the Strasbourg tourist office on the place de la Cathedrale.

You can take a bateau mouche every day on the Ill river, with
commentary, for €6.40 per person. The trip lasts 1 hour
and 10 mins and departs from the landing stage on the Palais
Rohan. There is a reduced price of €3.20 for children
under 3, and students. You can take an evening boat tour at
9.30 and 10pm from the beginning of May to the end of September.
This costs €6.80.
