The Bistro Musil is one of the most popular
restaurants in Klagenfurt. Advance booking is recommended;
the Stübe room is the most appealing. The standard menu
changes every day. The owner of the Bistro is one of the leading
pastry chef sin Europe so the desserts make this restaurant
well worth a visit
Felsenkeller
Feldkirchner Strasse 141
This restaurant is about a mile north
of the town of Klagenfurt. The Felsenkeller offers an inexpensive
menu served in a big windowed building overlooking the Ossiacher
See. The menu changes regularly depending on the season but
specialities include gourmet fish and chips with deep fried
mussels in a wine sauce.

Stadttheater
Theatergasse
The Stadttheater is the largest and
most formal theatre in Klagenfurt. The building was built
in 1910, however a recent renovation has given it a new interior.
Performances include opera, German theatre and orchestral
music.
Shopping
Many of Klagenfurts most interesting
shops are on the Bahnhofstrasse and the pedestrian streets
around the Alterplatz.
The Kärntner Heimatwerk, Herrengasse 2 offers the best
collection of local crafts with a selection of ceramics, glassware
and textiles.
Other
Useful Information.
The tourist office is located in the Rathaus,
or city hall. It is open Monday - Friday from 8am to 8pm and
10am - 6pm on the weekend.
If you are travelling by car the
city has restricted parking zones. You can park for 90 minutes
in 'blue zones' and you need to use parking vouchers to stop
in limited zones, these can be purchased at tobacconists and
banks. It is important to complete the voucher before leaving
your car and displaying it on the dashboard.
Between July and August the Neuerplatz offers open-air movies
of concerts and events without charge. Performances start
after 9.30pm and kiosks in the square offer refreshments.
During August the summer festival, Altdtadtzauber (The Magic
of the Old City) is held. Amongst the attractions in the city
centre are a large flea market.
