Glasgow City and Travel Guide

Best times to visit

Glasgow can be visited year-round, but is most popular during the summer months,
while accommodation in the rest of the region can be hard to find in the mid-June to end-August summer high season and from October to April, when some guesthouses and hotels are closed.

Glasgow's Clockwork Orange Getting Around

Glasgow has a single-line underground system which loops around the city centre, stopping at Buchanan Street (with a travelator link to Queen Street rail station) but not at Central Station. Outer suburbs are connected by an efficient suburban overground train service and bus services. Contact Strathclyde Passenger Transport, tel: (0141) 332 7133. Taxis are metered cabs and can be flagged down on the street, with cab ranks at both main stations.
