Other
Useful Information.
Stazione Principe on Piazza Acquaverde
just above the port on the west side of the centre is the
main train station. If you're arriving at Principe after dark,
take care while moving through the station and avoid the notorious
Via di Prè alley nearby.
Getting around the centre is best done on foot however, public
transport tickets, available from tabacchi and newspaper stands,
cost € 2.58 for the day, and are valid on buses and all
of the city's various funiculars and lifts.
Another good way to get a flavour of the
city is from a boat.
Genoa has a complicated double system
of street-numbering: commercial establishments have red numbers
(rosso), while all other buildings have black numbers (nero).
For example, that Piazza San Bernardo 73r might be next-door
Piazza San Bernardo 90n, but several hundred metres from Piazza
San Bernardo 74r.
