La Perle du Lac

park overlooking the lake. This restaurant opened in 1930
and has a beautiful terrace and garden. The cusine is French

Café Cuba is a Latin style
restaurant-bar covering three floors. The cocktail list is
extensive and popular with people of all ages. Tapas are on
offer as well as a Mexican themed menu including dishes such
as fajitas. The Café Cuba also has a dance floor playing
salsa music.
Les Brasseurs

This is the only brewery pub in the
city and as a result is very popular. Prices are very good
here and the bar allows you to order beer in anything from
a sample tray to a 5 litre jug!
Café Marius
9, place des Augustins
Geneva 1205
Before becoming a wine bar, the Cafe
Marius was a butchers shop. The bar has an art-deco theme
and serves a good variety of wine and tapas. Staff are friendly
and helpful and are happy to help you choose from the extensive
list of wines and tapas dishes.
Le Studio Club

Located outside the city centre Le
Studio Club is a cocktail bar, restaurant and nightclub. Tables
are served by cocktail waitresses serving a wide variety ranging
from snacks to gourmet dinners. There is a separate dance
floor area with a DJ for dancing.

L'Usine offers something different
every night. This venue can be host to anything from poetry
readings to concerts and the shows are in a variety of languages
depending on the act.

Shopping
The exclusive shops, jewellers and department
stores of Geneva are located around the Rue du Rhône,
Rue de la Confédération, Rue du Marché
and Rue de la Croix-d'Or.
The antiques quarter and art galleries are in the Old Town
and Pâquis and St-Gervais districts.
The city has a number of markets to browse. Amongst them are
the flea markets at the Plaine de Plainpalais (Wednesday and
Saturday), this is also the location for the fruit and vegetable
market on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
The flower, clothes and book markets are open daily and for
souvenirs the Place de la Fusterie holds a craft market on
Thursdays.

Getting Around
Trams and buses are the main methods of public transport,
with a few boats linking the two lakeshores. Trams and buses
are efficient and safe and will take you everywhere you want
to go, the entire city including the airport is covered by
a Zone 10 ticket. A full city pass can be purchased for 1
hour, 1 day or 3 days, tickets must be validated before boarding
by punching them in the ticket machine.
Visitors should be aware that taxis are incredibly expensive
in Geneva and also charge for luggage.
Renting a bike is a great way to
get around the city and to explore the generally flat countryside
around.

to stay in Geneva
Around Cornavin
train station
This is a popular location that is handy for arrivals and
departures, and offers some of the cheapest hotels in the
city, which is not known for it's cheapness! Some of the streets
are seedier than others, but most of the hotels directly in
front of the station are of good quality and the area is safe
unless you plan to wander around alone at 3am. Everywhere
is within easy walking distance of this part of town, and
there are loads of trams and buses on offer outside the station.
Lakeside hotels
You'll pay a premium for these prestigious locations but they
do offer fantastic views and ease of access to all the major
sights in Geneva.
Airport hotels
For the short stay or the budget-conscious visitor, airport
hotels represent a very economical option. Travel into the
main station from the airport is cheap and only takes 6 mins
by train, as it's really not far at all. Most hotels offer
free shuttles to and from the airport, so you don't need to
worry about arriving with bulky luggage.
